More often than not, you'll find Chicago-based designer Michelle Tan herself behind the counter here, clicking away on her laptop; ask her how she describes her creations and she'll utter words such as edgy, wearable and feminine. The color palette is decidedly neutral, with black, gray, white and tan dominating the range of women's tops, bottoms, dresses and jackets. Most items feature eye-catching details, such as party dresses with satin belts, tops with gathered stiches and tanks with flowers appliqued on the shoulders. On our last visit, we also spotted Valla jeans, leather bags and jewel-encrusted necklaces.
